The Conducting Institute is immensely grateful to have received a generous donation from the Voirin Foundation as a seed gift to create the Laura Bruton Scholarship, named in honor of Laura Bruton, a dynamic, extraordinary musician who lost a valiant battle with ovarian cancer in 2019.
Laura was a member of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra for 34 years, serving as principal violist for three decades, including performing as a soloist under Music Director Miguel Harth-Bedoya. She also performed extensively with symphonies and chamber music ensembles in North Texas and around the country, and taught orchestral viola repertoire and style for many years as Adjunct Professor of Viola at the University of North Texas College of Music. She had an incredible passion for music education, and we are humbled to be able to honor her.
